Ohne Computer läuft heute gar nichts mehr. Viele Geflüchtete haben trotzdem keinen. Manche haben noch nie am Computer gesessen und keine Möglichkeit, den Umgang damit zu erlernen. Andere haben im früheren Leben täglich damit gearbeitet, können sich jetzt aber keinen mehr leisten.

An anderer Stelle wiederum landen ausrangierte Modelle im Müll.

Zum Glück gibt es Menschen am IFW Dresden, die ihre alten aber noch nutzbaren Computer sammeln und engagierte Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Mikrosystemtechnik der TU-Dresden, die sie in ihrer freien Zeit wieder flott machen und sie an jene weitergeben, die sonst keinen Zugang dazu hätten.

Diesmal ging ihre Computerspende an uns, sowie an die DRK Flüchtlingsunterkunft in Dippoldiswalde und an Coloradio.

It’s almost impossible to manage life without a computer these days, yet there are many refugees who don’t have one. Some of them have never used a computer before, others used to work on the computer every day and now in their new home find they are not able to afford one.

At the same time, most old computers are simply being scrapped.

Luckily, there are people at Dresden’s IFW, who collect their old, but still functional, computers and dedicated staff at the Department of Microsystems Technology of TU Dresden, who get them up and running again for those who otherwise would never have access to the digital world.

This time, their computer donation went to us, as well the the Red Cross Refugee Home in Dippoldiswalde and Coloradio.
